Centrum Chodov Plaza West  Prague, Czech Republic

This area was initially occupied by a large parking lot, which was moved underground to make space for a new, family-oriented entrance plaza.

The major design challenge was a significant height difference between the existing green area with a centenary protected pyrus tree and the new paving level, which resulted in a steep slope located right in the middle of the new public space.

We maintained the slope and surrounded it by large timber seating. The location of the water feature and two playgrounds resulted from a thorough analysis of pedestrian flow across the area.

On the green slopes that shelter the plaza from the adjacent highway, we planted swirls of ornamental grasses interspersed with colourful flowering prairie with a four-seasons-interest.
