Centrum Chodov Plaza East  Prague, Czech Republic

The aim was to create an entrance plaza with a representative urban character that at the same time is a welcoming and pleasant destination, where visitors could gather for an early lunch or to enjoy morning sunshine.

The new public space is built up as a sequence of terraced stairs, surrounded by and interspersed with colourful prairie planting. Centrally located is an oversized timber bench with a large magnolia planted in its cut-out. A group of gingko trees links the plaza visually with the gingkos at the business park across the street.

Colourful prairie planting screens the plaza from the surrounding highway and diverts attention from the hard urban surroundings. It stitches the fragmented landscape together and provides the area with a strong identity.
